A Court-Appointed Expert is designated by a Court for an Explosion & Fire loss, without necessarily being a specialist in this technical field. A need for targeted expertise arises — one that is difficult to cover alone.
FireLab Pyrénées™ makes available its experience in fire origin and cause investigation for Explosions & Fires, in accordance with the "NFPA 921" methodology. The expertise provided may cover electricity, thermal installations, photovoltaic systems, the reading of Combustion Traces and Fire Effects (TCEF), or any other technical field raised by the case.
The support is provided as discreet back-up to the appointed colleague. It respects the mission entrusted to him by the Court. The final conclusions remain those of the lead expert. FireLab Pyrénées™ acts as a technical resource, not as the lead expert.

For Court-Appointed Experts listed with the Courts of Appeal, designated by Investigating Judges, Judicial Courts, Administrative Courts or Commercial Courts, who wish to draw on targeted technical expertise in Post-Fire Investigation. Support may be requested at any stage of the proceedings — ahead of the visit to the fire scene as well as after the report has been filed.

Preliminary case file analysis
Recognising the need and defining the problem. Review of the procedural documents, reports already produced, photographs and initial findings. FireLab Pyrénées™ identifies the technical points requiring specialised expertise.
Presence at the fire scene
Data collection alongside the appointed colleague. Joint reading of Combustion Traces and Fire Effects (TCEF). Measurements, samples, photographs. FireLab Pyrénées™ brings the "NFPA 921" methodology to the field.
Written technical findings
Data analysis and hypothesis testing. A technical note contributed to the lead expert’s mission — a targeted analysis of the technical field concerned. This document remains under the responsibility of the appointed expert.
Ongoing availability
Technical exchanges throughout the proceedings, from the initial findings to the filing of the report. FireLab Pyrénées™ remains available and responsive at every stage.

Who can request Assistance to Judicial Expertise?
Any Court-Appointed Expert listed with a Court of Appeal may call on FireLab Pyrénées™ to benefit from specialised technical expertise in Post-Fire Investigation. The support is provided in aid of the mission entrusted by the Court.
Does the technical assistant become a co-expert?
No. FireLab Pyrénées™ acts as a technical resource in support of the appointed colleague. The final conclusions remain those of the lead expert. The support takes the form of a technical note contributed to the mission.
At what stage of the proceedings can this support be requested?
Support may be requested at any time: ahead of the visit to the fire scene to prepare the intervention, during the expert operations, or afterwards to analyse specific technical elements. FireLab Pyrénées™ can be reached 24/7.
