What is judicial expertise support?

Judicial expertise support is a technical assistance mission alongside a party (defendant, victim, insurer) throughout a court-ordered expertise. It aims to protect the technical interests of the represented party, without contradicting the judicial expertise itself.

Can you accompany me to the expert operations?

Yes. FireLab Pyrénées™ accompanies its clients to on-site expert operations as well as technical meetings. The presence of a technical expert at the party's side makes it possible to ask the right questions, raise the relevant hypotheses and flag any methodological shortcomings in the judicial expertise.

How is a party submission (dire) in response to the judicial expert prepared?

A response is built methodically. Full analysis of the preliminary report, verification of the methodology followed against NFPA 921, identification of weak or contestable points, drafting of precise and substantiated technical party submissions (dires). FireLab Pyrénées™ drafts admissible submissions based on objective technical evidence.

What is the difference between expertise support and a counter-expertise?

Support accompanies a party during an ongoing judicial expertise. A counter-expertise is a new expertise, requested in order to challenge or supplement an expertise already delivered. Support is preventive; counter-expertise is corrective. The two missions can complement each other in the same case.

Who can benefit from judicial expertise support?

Any party summoned to judicial expert operations: a private individual under investigation or a victim, a professional, a company, a property management association, an insurer. The presence of an accompanying technical expert is a recognised right and in no way alters the mission of the appointed judicial expert.

A Court-Appointed Expert is designated by a Court for an "Explosion & Fire" loss, without necessarily being a specialist in this technical field. A need for targeted expertise arises — one that is difficult to cover alone.

FireLab Pyrénées^™ makes available its experience in fire origin and cause investigation for Explosions & Fires, in accordance with the "NFPA 921" methodology. The expertise provided may cover electricity, thermal installations, photovoltaic systems, the reading of combustion patterns and fire effects (TCEF), or any other technical field raised by the case.

The support is provided as discreet back-up to the appointed colleague. It respects the mission entrusted to him by the Court. The final conclusions remain those of the lead expert. FireLab Pyrénées^™ acts as a technical resource, not as the lead expert.
